I wrote about my experience learning Spanish, with fun twists. I covered how I learned: a class, then growing interest which led to intensive independent study revolving around Latin American telenovelas, and traveling over the summer to Argentina and why I learned: reaching a goal, personal growth, connecting to other cultures and the world.

The Princeton prompt asked about an experience that had shaped me with the school's motto, "in the nation's service and in the service of all nations" in mind. I wrote about my experience building the Model UN club at my school from no members to a thriving club, and evolving myself from a very shy, timid girl, to an articulate, informed student of the world.

Princeton asked how I spent my last two summers, I divided them between one summer volunteering and embarking on an ambitious independent science project, and the next summer I spent in Buenos Aires learning more Spanish and about the culture. It showed a balance between, and a dedication to, my diverse interests.

Because there were a few related prompts that could also be repetitive of my personal statement, it was a challenge to make sure that I covered different topics, ideas and parts of my personality in each essay, while still staying consistent. Thus, it was important to read all my essays together with the common app personal statement.
