For my personal statement (depending on if there was a prompt) I would write about my volunteer work, extracurricular activities, and how I was in a gifted program. I would expand upon these 3 central ideas, focusing on my time management skills, organization, dedication, and leadership roles that developed throughout high schools. I would touch on my successes and then lead on to say how I could improve throughout college.
