School Specific Essays

Some students have a background, identity, interest, or talent that is so meaningful they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your story.
The first day I was confronted by students from all over, each with a different background, but I soon found that the people were not as 'foreign' as I originally believed. Introducing myself to a group of peers I was met with smiles. My peers offered new names which I promised to remember, but then I heard the familiar, "Wow, you're really tall," and I couldn't help but laugh. Almost 8,000 miles away, the familiar phrase relaxed me One constant I...

Supplemental Essay: “Why us” school essay
404 Words
We would like to know more about your interest in NYU. What motivated you to apply to NYU? Why have you applied or expressed interest in a particular campus, school, college, program, and or area of study? If you have applied to more than one, please tell us why you are interested in these additional areas of study or campuses. We want to understand - Why NYU?
The international relations major offered by the Department of Politics appeals to me because it combines international policy study with political economic analysis. My insights about the IB (International Baccalaureate) program
316 Words
Predicted grades > Final grades When you apply in November (Early) or January (Regular) you are applying with the predicted grades your school provides and this is what the universities base your admissions decision off of. I have learned that the predicted grades matter more in this process than what you get on the finals. In the UK students are given conditional acceptance offers meaning if their final grade is below their predicted / requirement for the university then the students lose their acceptance. US universities give unconditional offers to students based on their predicted grades - meaning you are 100% accepted as...

Whether I used a private admissions counselor, and advice I received
269 Words
I worked with a private admissions counselor who was specialized in applications to the USA. I went to the German European School Singapore so 98% of graduating students moved on to universities in Europe which is a very different application process. This meant my school counselor was unfamiliar with USA applications so I decided to reach out for a private counselor and this made the world of a difference. I highly recommend if you have the ability, to work with a...
